Jake Naparstek

Jake is a graphic designer specialising in digital design. His work covers many areas with socially driven projects aiming to initiate change and rethink the way in which we tackle existing issues through the medium of design. Along with this he also explores music culture through the medium of typography and enjoys using experimental digital processes to create visually striking outcomes.

He is currently looking for internship opportunities in order to apply his current abilities as a designer and develop his skill set.

His achievements include having work featured by McCann London, along with being shortlisted by Creative Conscience. He has also been highly commended by Monotype along with Design Council for their work in the Design Academy programme in 2019.

Nuclear technology has propelled our society forward in many ways, in health, agriculture and in deep space exploration. In collaboration with: Tommy Mandry, Vanessa Keller & Ronaldas Slikas Only Connection aims to typographically celebrate the ethos of rave culture in response to a brief set by Google & HMTC for D&AD New Blood. Only Connection focuses on the 3 benefits of raving: 1) Human connection 2) Disconnection from the everyday 3) Dance chemicals - Serotonin, Dopamine & Endorphins A VJ animation was created to be played at a modern electronic music event, displaying a message which relates back to the early days of raving. Additional outcomes consisted of a 12” vinyl sleeve along with a set of posters.
A pictogram created in response to a brief set by McCann London, aiming to change the International Symbol for Access. Currently, the symbol is that of a wheelchair user, even though 93% of people who are disabled don’t use a wheelchair. A new symbol would have to be inclusive of all disabilities, visible and invisible. This approach for a new symbol aims to represent physical, mental and genetic disabilities in one pictogram, suitable for use in many contexts.
A promotional video for the contemporary dance event ‘Sutra’ taking place at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. Through a seamless loop, this promotional material utilises typography and kinegrams to mimic the falling dominos depicted in the dance.
