Akemi Kawano was born in Brazil but raised in Japan. She is currently studying Illustration for Communication and just finished her first academic year, now she is doing some graphic design works in Japan. Her main inspirations are the East Asian culture, her Korean lo-fi and R&B playlists and aesthetic films like The Grand Budapest Hotel. Exploring new places with friends and sunny days are also ways of gaining more motivation and inspiration.

Her work often explores self-acceptance, self-care as well as topics that raise awareness about mental health condition - a delicate subject but crucial nowadays. Janice Sung, Jung Yeon Min, SAKIYAMA and Christine Mari are names that are often influencing her work.
