Yossef Perez

Yossef is a dedicated and passionate architectural designer. He has a deep fascination on how much of a powerful contribution architecture plays in the makeup of society and specifically how architects can have an immense social and cultural influence. He believes architects have the possibilities to make space more attractive, accessible, and environmentally friendly. His work reflects these aspects through shapes, materials, and spatial experience. His strength is to deeply understand users’ requirements and propose creative developments through sketches, physical models, and digital illustrations.

Yossef worked with international architectural firms such as Gabi Tetro Architects where he analysed and reported the design nature of their projects. He currently works with Jaime Bouzaglo at CREAR+ (Montreal) expanding his field in the architecture, interior and product design and in 2020 participates in an international competition located in Italy.

Community Housing TherapyTo successfully enable the residents to re-integrate with society new programs had to be proposed as well as re-introducing the old ones. To achieve these results, Yossef Perez has initiated most of the design programs and aesthetics based on interviews with both staff and residents. Moreover this is the reason why Yossef took 'the need of feeling in a home' and not trapped in a dorm with serious consideration for the residence. Yossef believes it is important for them to have their own private space as well as enabling residents maximum comfort. Yossef enabled programs that would encourage them to have a routine and take responsibility. An art studio for self-expression, meditation for quiet and self-reflection, gym for health and fitness (to potentially reduce the majorities smoking habits). And finally for them each to have their own garden. Besides the fact that it was our main requirement from the interviews it would allow them a natural refreshing external daily activity.
Community Housing TherapySince a meditation space was proposed as an extension it was important for Yossef to consider it for both group classes and private. These small individual meditation booths enable both residents and staff to take time off for self-reflection, relaxation or even prayer.
Community Housing TherapyCLT was the best choice of construction technology for multiple reasons. In terms of sustainability CLT helps with carbon sequestering. Its cost and light weight property will help increase speed of construction and reduce labour cost. The materials would be cut offsite making it a quiet construction site.
