Royal Shakespeare Company Education

Live Project

Ravensbourne undergraduates on the TV Production course joined forces with those on the TV technology to create the live streamed schools broadcast of The Taming of the Shrew last  Autumn.  This production was opened out to students from across the university to give others a chance to experience the live studio production environment.

The interactive format allows questions and discussion from school students around the UK, who log in as part of their school curriculum.

Following this successful transmission a second live stream was broadcast to schools for the production Macbeth. Completing their largest Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) broadcast to date, streaming a production of Macbeth to over 450 schools across the UK, reaching an estimated 50,000 students.

The production marked the seventh year of the collaboration, facilitated by a dedicated team of BA (Hons) Digital Television Production, BSc (Hons) Digital Television Technology and BA (Hons) Editing and Post Production students. From production lead, to graphics operator, technical lead and director, students fulfilled a wide range of roles.
